Good Night, I love this stuff.  It’s creamy, it’s salty, it’s completely satisfying.  This is one of the the SOS I mentioned in my Happy Food post.  Unfortunately, no one in my family will eat this gorgeous goop so I rarely made it because I would have ended up eating it…all.  Now, I have coworkers that I make it for because they’ll eat it and I am saved from gluttony.

This recipe is from the Armour Star website but it tastes exactly like my dad’s. 

Canned biscuits, (I like the Grands for this), Bisquick biscuits, made-from-scratch-wonder-biscuits or if you’re in a pinch…toast.  Make these while you are making the CCB.


  • 1/4 Cup (4 Tbl) butter
  • 1/4 C.  all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1 4.5-oz. jar ARMOUR® STAR SLICED DRIED BEEF,  chopped, (or cut or minced.  I often use scissors)

Melt butter in saucepan. Add flour and cook 1 minute. Add milk all at once. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly. Add beef and heat through. Serve over biscuits or toast.

Makes 3 cups

You can make half the recipe just find the smaller jar or freeze half the beef
